Nomads Thanksgiving Tournament 2010

November 26-28 - Application form coming soon ....

Nomads Thanksgiving 2009

Thank you to all the teams that participated this past weekend. The weather was not kind to us as you know on Saturday which caused us all great anguish but we made it through the weekend.  To get a flavor for what we dealt with see this video http://www.vimeo.com/7873714  this game was called off after 25 minutes, we played on  until the University kicked us off the fields.

The Nomads staff were faced with an overwhelming amount of difficult decisions, as unfortunately we were forced to close 47 fields by the City of San Diego, University and School Districts.  This left us with only 7 fields available to complete the tournament as of Saturday night at 5:30pm. We worked diligently until the early morning hours to produce what we felt was the best scenario with what e had to work with, but as the morning went by more challenges arose. We realize that the schedule was not what any of us would have hoped for and we wanted to let you know that we truly appreciated your flexibility and cooperation with the game reschedules. We wish you a safe journey home and wish you all the best.

Testimonials:

"On behalf of Idaho Rush, I would like to thank you and the entire staff at Nomads for putting on a great tournament and adjusting so well after having to deal with Mother Nature.  Our players had a great time, played some great soccer, and now are getting contacted my many college coaches.  We  look forward to attending again in the future. Shaun Dunn, Technical Director, Idaho Rush Soccer Club"

"Congratulation on putting together an excellent tournament this year. The Nomads Tournament has earned the well deserved recognition of always putting together a first class, exciting and smooth running event. Your organizational efforts to match-up equally talented teams plus the quality of the website, excellent communication messages and a fine tuned check-in process were all highly appreciated. The fields were in great condition and of course the location of the fields in beautiful San Diego is always a delightful experience that we look forward to throughout the year. Our California Odyssey team(s) had a great time competing against excellent teams in all the games we played. On behalf of the California Odyssey organization, coaches Nader, Lyn and Neil and our parent team management group, thanks again for everything. We look forward to having California Odyssey teams participate in next years Nomads Tournament." John Leighty, California Odyssey 95B (SuperGroup), California Odyssey 95B (Premier)

"Thank you so much for all your efforts - I know what you did, especially with the rain, was very tough and made for a very long weekend! Your responsiveness was second to none that I’ve experienced at any other tournament - even though I know you were up to the wee hours on Sat. night and again on Sunday very early"  Allen Moore

"This was our first trip to Nomads and I just wanted to commend you and your team on an excellent job. I know how much effort and planning go into these events and usually you only wind up hearing the complaints. Regardless of how the weather turned out it was still a great experience for us and we look forward to coming back. Thanks again for your hard work." Mike Doiron, Team Manager, South Valley Thunder G93

"I actually been wanting to email you to tell you that the referees @ all our games this weekend were excellent;)  It was really nice for a change" Laura Shephard, Corona Utd

"this has been the best thanksgiving tournament in the western region for many years because Nomads just don’t cancel their tournament for
nothing, they try thier best to keep it going in emergency situations like this, and I was right, you guys are incredible, Great Job" Jaime Ramos, San Diego Aztecs.

Thanks to you and the Nomads staff for hosting a terrific and well run tournament this past weekend!  Neither the rain nor the hail dampened our team’s experience!   The e-mails and text messages regarding schedule and field changes were timely and concise.  Thank you for going the extra mile to ensure that the games continued" Martin and Kathy Belak-Berger, CVU Blue G93 Pride
