Downtown -  Airport - Shelter Island - Old Town - Point Loma

The downtown area includes hotels, shopping, dining, and shopping. Balboa Park, Horton Plaza, Seaport Village, and the Embarcadero are all within blocks of our available hotels. Driving time to the La Jolla is 15-20 minutes. Beach access is 10-15 minutes. San Diego Trolley access to Mission Valley and Tijuana. Harbor Island is a man-made island in San Diego Bay with marinas, hotels, and restaurants. Sport fishing is available, and Cabrillo National Monument is out Point Loma. Harbor Island is right at Lindbergh Field, San Diego’s airport.

Mira Mesa / Sorrento Mesa - Kearny Mesa

The Mira Mesa/Sorrento Mesa- Kearny Mesa area is inland and north of La Jolla, and circles the Miramar Marine Air Station (formerly home of the Top Gun fighter pilot school). Freeway access to all points in San Diego is easy. Hotels and motels are in clusters with shopping and restaurants nearby. Driving time to the La Jolla ranges from 10-15 minutes on the western end to 20-25 minutes on the eastern end of this area. Beach access also ranges from 10 to 20 minutes.

Mission Valley - Hotel Circle

The Mission Valley - Hotel Circle area is the hotel/motel hub of San Diego. Golf is available as are two shopping malls, several movie theaters, numerous restaurants, and Qualcomm Stadium, home of the San Diego Chargers. Easy freeway access to all attractions. Driving time to the La Jolla  is 15-20 minutes. Beach access is 5-10 minutes. San Diego Trolley access to Downtown and Tijuana is available at the Fashion Valley Mall and throughout various trolley stations in Mission Valley.

North County Coastal

The North County Coastal area is up I-5 from La Jolla, ranging from Del Mar to Oceanside. The new Legoland California theme park is in Carlsbad. Freeway access to San Diego and other attractions is easy; the Coaster light rail system runs to Downtown regularly from Del Mar. Shopping centers and restaurants are numerous. Driving time to La Jolla ranges from 10-15 minutes depending on traffic at the I-5 / I-805 merge. Beach access is around 5 minutes (if not less) for all hotels in Del Mar and Solana Beach.

North County Inland

The North County Inland area is up I-15 from San Diego proper. Wild Animal Park access is the quickest from this area. Freeway access to the balance of San Diego is easy. Hotels are pretty self-sufficient, and shopping malls and restaurants are nearby. Driving time to La Jolla is 25-30 minutes. 

Point Loma - Mission Bay - Pacific Beach

Point Loma - Mission Bay - Pacific Beach are to the west of the airport starting just north of Old Town, Sea World, Mission Bay, and the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Driving time to La Jolla is 10--15 minutes. Beach access ranges from 1-10 minutes.
