Transfer

Nomads Academy a Community School

Here is how you get your child transferred in to our program:

Transfer:

Contact Mary Kaliff at 858-692-8720 Email: mary@nomadssoccer.org then:

Go to your current school and ask for a TRANSFER to the San Diego County Office of Education Nomads Academy Community School.  The contact at the County is James Flores 619-233-2804.  His fax # for transcripts and paperwork is 619-696-0377 and his email address is jamesf@sdcoe.net

Process:

Once we have received word that the transfer has taken place, James will set up a morning appointment to go in to their office on Ash street downtown to take the placement test. This will determine where your son is at academically.  This appointment can happen very quickly once we have the paperwork done.

Teacher:

The teacher is Peter McNamara and he is located at the SD County Office in Old Town (Adjacent to the Old Town Trolley Station).  Our students meet with Peter once a week on Tuesdays around 11am.

Students are given books and they must provide their own paper and pencils etc. Pete will determine the subjects he should be taking however he will be given the choice of doing one subject for 4 weeks, 2 subjects in 8 weeks or 3 subjects in 12 weeks.  They recommend 4 hours a day study.  Once a week the student takes their work in to be evaluated and receive more work. If travelling, Pete will assign work for the time he is gone and will need to turn it in on his return, or we can arrange for it to be faxed in if out of town.

We speak with Pete once a week to find out how the kids are doing.

We have established an Advisory Board to ensure that this program meets all of the accreditation, etc for the kids to graduate and go on to college. Members are as follows:
