Roman Martin Committed to play for Wake Forest University for Fall 2015
The Nomads are pleased to report that Roman Martin, who has played for the Nomads since 2006, has committed to play soccer for ACC powerhouse Wake Forest University.
Roman pictured here with his father Jeff Martin have been great supporters of the Nomads Soccer Club over the years. We wish Roman all the best with his college career which will begin Fall 2015. Meanwhile, Roman will continue playing for the Nomads USSDA Boys U17/18 team.
Wake Forest, the winner of the 2007 National Championship, is recognized as having one of the most successful college programs in the country over the last 10 years. Derek Armstrong, the Nomads Technical Director, said, “Wake Forest is an excellent program and has built a reputation for playing the game way we at the Nomads want to play. They are known for playing a stylish attacking brand of soccer, and it is a system that they have had a lot of success with through the years.”
At 6’1”, Martin currently plays an attacking midfield role for the Nomads’s U18s. Besides the USSDA, Martin has also gained valuable experience playing overseas. Martin spent time this summer with GNK Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia, where he played for the club’s U19 team. In prior summers, Martin also played over 80 games in Europe and Brazil with two separate Brazilian clubs. “Bottom line, we are happy to see Roman continue to progress toward his goal of being a professional soccer player,” said Armstrong. “This is an important step, and we expect Roman will be big contributor to Coach Vidovich’s program at Wake Forest.”
