FAQs
Please find below some of the common questions or misperceptions regarding the Nomads Girls Program:
MYTH (1) We have mandatory practice 3 times a week, year round and you are not allowed to miss any practices.
ANSWER: We provide year round practice where needed and wanted. The teams play in the local Presidio league (the same as the Impact, Surf, Del Mar Sharks clubs to name a few). The younger teams play between 2 to 3 summer tournaments in the San Diego area. The older teams (U11 and above) usually play in more and sometimes in the LA area; the much older teams have the opportunity to travel both in the US and abroad (depending on the interest and fundraising capacity of the teams).
MYTH (2) We do not allow Nomads players to play for their school athletic teams.
ANSWER: We train the kids to be competitive and team leaders at the junior and HS levels, and hopefully college level. We currently have players playing in the La Jolla schools (9 players at La Jolla High School, 9 at Bishop’s and 5 at La Jolla Country Day) plus players currently playing all over the county, and at 20 plus colleges around the country including UCSD.
MYTH (3) We do not allow players to play other sports.
ANSWER: We do have players playing two or more sports; in fact, we encourage extra-curricular activities not just at the younger levels but all the way through to the U18s.
MYTH (4) We charge $2,400 a year in club fees.
ANSWER: The fees are $1,200 a year which covers Coaching fees, Uniforms, Training gear, League fees, Referees fees, Administration fees for each player. It also contributes to Allen field maintenance costs (usually around $50-60 per year).
