Girls U14 (93-94) win Carlsbad and Notts Forest Cups (September 2007)
Girls U14 (93-94) team began an impressive run earlier this summer, when our girl’s swept through the Carlsbad Cup out scoring their opponents 14-1, including defeating a very talented and fit Vaqueros team with an infusion of several Surf players. This effort built upon a successful Pegasus Cup, where the Nomads breezed through the initial bracket play 11-0, but ended up earning a finalist medal after succumbing to a talented Temecula United team who ultimately won the tournament (and just recently the AA-A North Presidio Play title). Awesome goaltending, a stingy defense, and explosive offense seems to be a powerful combination this year. Not to be satisfied with a just one cup victory this summer, our girls played in the Notts Forest Labor Day Cup in “epic” conditions, with 3 games played in temperatures in excess of 90° at game time, with the final two games where temperatures rose above 100°—including the final game against FC San Diego pegging out at 105° at game time. Although the girls where definitely hot and exhausted, they managed to sneak in one goal, and prevent FC San Diego from scoring to win their 2nd Cup this summer!
